At times, the Internet feels as an additional sense organ. Without
regular interaction with it, one feels a dulling of that sense, such as a loss
of contact with one’s social circles, or a blunted sense of up to date
information. The information world that is usually at one’s fingertips is
blurred and muffled, and by extension, one's connection with that world, as that world connects to the modern world in the real, is blurred and muffled.
It is an extended sense that is connected to a vast body of energetic
infrastructure, and extensive supply chains, made up of power stations, rare earth metals, petroleum fuels
and chemical products, mines, digging equipment, manufacturing centers,
international transportation systems, and much more.
